In March 2009, IPPSL | International Professional metformin 1000 mg buy Partnerships for Sierra Leone, Inc. received Cabinet-level approval from the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) to begin capacity-building operations in the country; and to-date, IPPSL has placed four highly trained professionals to work on critical policy and technical assistance issues within respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) of the GoSL.
Through the contributions of these young professionals, IPPSL’s work has led to a deepening of our relationships with the Sierra Leone government, as well as to an increase in receptivity and demand within government for the recruitment of a greater number of talented young professionals to fill skill & staffing gaps within the GoSL on a temporary basis, in the near future.
Under a Sierra Leone Cabinet-approved mandate specifically designed to authorize, administer, and frame the operations of International Professional Partnerships for Sierra Leone | IPPSL, Inc., our organization supports a revival of public sector reform for Sierra Leone, its government and citizens, by addressing various specific skill & staffing deficits through technical assistance and capacity building.
In two short years, IPPSL has, on an all-volunteer basis, organized successfully to plan, initiate and implement our organization’s dynamic programming: The IPPSL International Fellowship Program.
In our first six months of operation, IPPSL deployed three extensively experienced international professionals to work in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, the Ministry of Trade & Industry, the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Law Reform Commission, and with the Office of the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
Since 2009, IPPSL’s highly motivated, culturally competent professional fellows have been working alongside Sierra Leonean colleagues on various projects, including the improvement of investment agreements between the GoSL and its foreign investors through SLIEPA, support of the overall progressive agenda of development and reform of the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Law Reform Commission with valuable legal expertise, and a provision of superior policy standards expertise to the Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone (PBSL) and the Ministry of Health. IPPSL Fellows have assisted in the drafting of new laws on provincial land management, have reviewed major mining contracts, and are advising high-level government officials on the targeted points of policy-making and development.
IPPSL’s work is jointly coordinated & evaluated in Sierra Leone by the Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU). IPPSL Fellows work under the direct supervision of Sierra Leone government officials and on teams with Sierra Leonean civil servants; exchanging knowledge, helping to implement public sector priorities of development & reform, and providing critical technical skills at strategic points of intervention.
IPPSL Fellows enhance government capacity both in the short term — by performing tasks requiring technical proficiencies which are scarce or unavailable in Sierra Leone — and in the long term — by transferring skills to their Sierra Leonean counterparts and improving intra-agency systems for internal management and external delivery.
Fellowships average one fiscal year in length, for which IPPSL may draw talent from anywhere in the world. To date, IPPSL has primarily recruited young professionals with superior graduate school education & training, including in fields such as law & public health.
The expansion of IPPSL’s support to Sierra Leone is limited only by funds available to work with government MDAs to identify specific capacity-building niches, as well as to recruit, train and empower international young professionals to fill them.
In Sierra Leone, there exists tremendous demand for technical assistance from many government ministries, departments, and agencies. At the same time, highly qualified international young professionals from a range of specialties have approached IPPSL, eager to assist Sierra Leone’s recovery & reform through development of its public sector. With adequate support, IPPSL anticipates ranking amongst the primary capacity-building & technical assistance programs in Sierra Leone, within three years.
